Sagging Floors
As time goes by, the understructure of your home (i.e. joists, cill plates, band boards and support columns) can become weakened, causing the floors above to sag, walls to crack and masonry to sustain damage.
You can hire the experienced team at AquaGuard to correct this. We will put together a repair procedure that may include installing new concrete block support columns, replacing rotted cill plates, band boards and joists, and reinforcement of existing joists. We often use hydraulic jacks to return the substructure to its original position.
See the photos to the right for details of one of our sagging floor repair projects. Chartiers Terrace is a community of row homes in Carnegie originally built in the 1940s to house workers for Pittsburgh's war industry. There are a total of 28 five unit row homes all of which are supported by shallow foundations, creating a crawl space beneath each building. We added a new block column, new joists and the new main support beam.
